Disaster comes with Murad Clarifying Cleanser

Ola beauty lovers! I am back with another review. I was watching MrsLolalynn on YouTube and she was talking about recommendations on skin care products. She was talking about acne prone skin and all that great stuff. So she recommended trying the Murad Clarifying Cleanser for the face, and it struck some curiousity in me to try. I went to Sephora picked up a sample size to see how my skin would react.

The first time I tried this cleanser, it was not so bad. I used it once at night. It was a clear gel consistency and it applied nicely to the skin, creating this light foam. There was a nice cooling effect which is pleasant especially in the heat of the summer. After trying it the one time, I left the cleanser alone for a couple days, and my skin seemed to be ok. Then I used it twice in a day. Once in the morning, once at night. Well, was that ever a huge NO NO.

After using this cleanser twice in a day, all of a sudden I noticed my skin reacting to the face wash. My entire face broke out in a rash! It was like my face was all bumps. Itchy, irritated. I was mortified!

I check the ingredients of this product, which I knew had a high dose of acne medicine, but acne medicine did not react like this on my skin before. So I didn't understand why now!

This product contains the following:

-Salicylic Acid 1.5%: Penetrates pores to clear up acne and prevent new breakouts.
-Menthol: Cools and soothes skin irritation.
-Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract (Green Tea): Provides both anti-redness and antioxidant benefits.

Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Methyl Gluceth-20, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Butylene Glycol, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Silver Citrate, Menthol, PEG-150 Distearate, Corn Starch, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch Octenylsuccinate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Polysorbate 80, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Chlorphenesin, Methylisothiazolinone, Limonene, Tangerine Leaf Oil, Citronella Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Lime Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Mandarin Orange Peel Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Fragrance.

Well, this is one of the highest doses of Salicylic Acid I have ever experienced in a facial cleanser.  I have used salicylic acid products before but they never had this high of a dosage. My face has been itchy, and all I want to do is place a cold cloth on it to relieve its irritation!

I turned to my lovely international beauty friends and ask them what should I do. The lovely Julie from TheSaltLifeWife suggested I take a Benedryl to help the rash reaction. So thats what I did. Slowly but surely the rash is fading with time. But let me just say, this product was not meant for me.

If you have normal to sensitive skin, my suggestion is stay FAR FAR FAR AWAY from this product. If you are sensitive skin but acne prone, I would recommend going with the different cleanser with acne medication but has a lower dosage.

The next day I went to work and talking to one of my coworkers about my experience, and she said to me, "Girl, Murad is one of the most harsh skin care brands out there, I tried samples and it irritated my skin, I never used them again."

Well thanks for the tip....after the fact. LOL

Now I am not completely scared off from Murad products. I mean c'mon I am a beauty lover. I love to explore. But I will definitely steer clear from their acne treatment products.

Until next time beauty lovers <3

Quick review Whitening Lightning Glosses

Ola beauty lovers! Back with another quick review. I know everyone and their mother talks about the Whitening Lightning/Gerard Cosmetics Color your smile lip glosses.Well there is good reason to why they are so popular in the beauty community on YouTube. Just so you know Whitening Lightning founded Gerard Cosmetics. Ideally they are one in the same company just different names. Whitening Lightning is more for teeth whitening products/brow products, and Gerard Cosmetics focuses more on beauty products.

My first color your smile gloss was over a year ago when Whitening Lightning sent me the nude gloss as a bonus for screwing up my delivery on an order I had placed. When I first saw the gloss I said oh nice, it's nude, this is something I can use on the daily. Little did I know that this gloss was AMAZING, and ever since these glosses are mostly the only glosses I will use.

These glosses are the most comfortable products to wear on the lips. They are not sticky, they are so very pigmented, and they last on the lips. Plus their great packaging with a built in light and mirror for on the go. They do not smell bad, but this product does have parabens in them. For those all natural girls out there who are careful with their makeup products.

They are a bit pricy, so if you can get a coupon code for %25 off that will help. I usually find the coupon codes on bigger you-tubers channels. I find getting the bundle of three glosses for $45 is worth it because regular price each gloss is $24. So you save a little in the bundle.

Quick Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

Ola beauty lovers! Back again with another review. Since I am on a slow down in my shopping sector, you will be seeing a lot more product reviews coming your way. Got to use up the products I have before I hoard any more. If you ladies know what I mean...and you are blushing because you know LOL ;)

Today's review is on the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation. Now, a lot of people just love this foundation, but I am here to say that I am not impressed. Why? Well to start with, the closest shade I could find to my skin was True Beige #203, and even that makes me look ghostly. Secondly, the formula of this foundation is not just matte but OVERLY MATTE that the product clings to my dry patches and it actually looks like I am wearing a cake face! Not pretty.

Now to get this thing to semi work for me, I had to stop using my sigma brush, and use a damp beauty sponge to apply it. OR because it is such a light shade on me I will mix it with my darker foundations that are just a bit too dark for me at the moment. But I can not wear this on its own. No way.

For those of you with sensitive skin, I will warn you that this foundation has Talc. So if you break out with this ingredient, stay FAR FAR FAR away from this foundation. Talc is one of the first ingredients on the list. Not a good sign.

The wearability through out the day is so uncomfortable that when I look in the mirror my face looks like icing was just slapped on and spread out. Yuck!

So all in all this foundation is not one of my favorites. I am an oily combination skin type, and usually matte foundations are amazing on me, but this one just wasn't agreeing with me.

Yes it may be $5 at the drug store, but girls save that $5 and spend it on a nice lipstick where you will enjoy it, because this foundation ain't even worth a dollar!
