Benefit: They're Real Push Up Liner REVIEW

Ola beauty lovers! I am back with a product review for you all. Everyone and their mother is talking about the Benefit They're Real push up liner. So I had some points to redeem at Shoppers Drug Mart and decided to pick this up for FREE :) Don't you love free?

Anyways, I had heard about this liner and how great it is, but I wanted to see for myself. Girls let me just begin to tell you what the package claims:

  • 91% of people said it was long wearing
  • 81% of people said it was waterproof
  • 86% of people said it hugged the lashline
  • 84% of people said their eyes looked visibly larger

I don't know about you, but for me these claims above are pretty huge claims to market for a product, especially if those claims are false. But that is why I am here to show you all if this is worth it or not. In Canada this product retails for roughly about $30. That is a lot for a gel eyeliner. Although this is the first gel eyeliner in stick form, therefore the convenience is there. So that means you will not only be paying for the product but also the convenience as well. The packaging is a simple stick type dispenser that dispenses the product when you twist it from the bottom of the stick.  That means you don't need to take out a separate brush, dip it in to the gel liner and so on. Hence the convenience.

The first time I tried this liner I admit was a bit scared, only because I didn't want to be disappointed since I spend so much money on this product. Yes I got it for free since I redeemed my Shoppers Optimum points however I still consider my Shoppers points money. I twisted the cap off and twisted the bottom to dispense the product. I was intimidated by the angled applicator only because I never had good experiences with angled liner brushes. Usually I use a pointed one from Sigma or Quo and that does the job. So this angled one was a bit hesitant for me.

I sucked it up and applied the product to my eyes. The application process with this product can be a bit tricky for those who are not used to an angled brush. BUT once you get the hang of it, the the liner looks great. The gel liner product it self is very creamy, easy to apply to the lids, and once it sets, IT SETS. I mean I screwed up and tried to fix it at the end and the liner would not rub off, and would not remove from my face with my MAC Makeup remover! I had to use oil to break it down and get it off. The liner is very pigmented and black so it looks crisp through out the day which is amazing! The tip applicator is very gentle on the eyes, does not tug at all.

My advice for first time users on this product is, you do not want to rush putting this product on. Definitely take your time and get it right the first time, because ladies trying to get this puppy off, you might as well wash your whole make up face off and start again LOL

This liner is definitely a good one for those girls who are oily, and for girls who go the gym with make up on. The liner can be used by everyone, however for ladies who sweat more and are more active, this liner you don't have to worry about budging. A thumbs up in my books. Well done Benefit!

Quick Review: MAC Face and Body Foundation

Ola beauty lovers! So I am coming to you today with a product review. Few months ago I managed to score the MAC Face and Body Foundation at their semi annual warehouse sale for $12! YES! What a steal! I picked up the shade C4. Matches me pretty good. I was so excited about this foundation, thinking that it will be another medium to full coverage foundation I can use in rotation in my collection.

Well, this week I cracked this puppy out, and I was so bummed that it was not full coverage. I would have to place this foundation in the light to medium coverage category. It applies nicely to the skin and using my Sigma kabuki brush it blends well. BUT this is such a light coverage that even applying two layers I am lucky if my skin is medium covered. The wear ability throughout the day well, because its such light coverage, there's not much there to begin with. This formula is very light. You can barely feel it on your skin. Which doesn't have to be a bad thing. I would definitely say if you are looking for a light weight, light coverage foundation for the summer time then this face & body foundation is definitely on the thumbs up.

The bottle is pretty large so it should last you awhile if you don't use a lot of product to try to make it full coverage. I can tell you right now, don't waste the product to attempt full coverage because it won't get there. The packaging is plastic so you can squeeze it out which it is not a pump but still functional without having to dip your brush into the product. So that's a good.

The retail cost for 50ML of this foundation is about $30. Yes for a light foundation that is a bit steep. Thank god I got it at my discount price, because if I spent full price I would return it.

In my opinion for me normally when I purchase a foundation I would expect it to be at least medium to full coverage. I mean what is the point of wearing a foundation if its not medium to full coverage any way?

Leave me a comment down below if you have tried this foundation and what are your thoughts?

Clarisonic Diaries July 9th 2014

Ola beauty lovers! I haven't updated you all on my journey with the Clarisonic over the last few months. Things have been hectic. But good news is my skin has been doing well.

I only use my Clarisonic once a week now, if that some times I use it once every two weeks depending on how much makeup I have been wearing over the past few days. I have been making sure I use some sort of cleanser with either Tea Tree oil, salicylic acid, or retinal. I tend to stay more to Tea Tree oil or salicylic acid.
There is another ingredient that keeps break outs down but I forgot what its called.

The only thing I have changed is the mask I use when my cystic acne comes along. The Glam Glow Super Clearing treatment mud mask is my new savoir. That stuff although is so expensive works like gold! Now I know it is not a product a lot of us can afford but if you go into Sephora and ask for a sample size, bring it home try it out and see for your self. A sample size should last you a few times. Don't use it all over the face just spot treatment it to save on product. This baby pulls out all the crap in your pores and you see it in real life in front of you. It's gross but so cool.

Other then that I still use my moisture masks here and there if I feel my skin needs a drink of water. I usually mask 2 to 3 times a week for different things. Just pampering myself like that at home helps de-stress.

Side note I have made an appointment with a dermatologist next week to further discuss my skin issues and hopefully I can learn more from the doctor. I really want to avoid using prescription products since I am a Sun girl, I can not stay out of the sun during this time of year. Let's hope and pray my situation isn't as serious as other peoples I have seen.

With my skin clearer, I am able to wear light make up foundation and feel really good about it. Below is a photo I just took today, and I am not wearing much make up at all. My chin is clear and I feel great. Keep in mind I just finished my period so any woman's skin looks great when her cycle re starts every month, BUT this month was not bad at all compared to past months I dealt with.

That is it for now ladies! I will keep you posted on what the doctor says next week!

Summer Essentials: Body & Hair Care

Ola beauty lovers! Yes I know it has been a long ass minute since I have posted. You lovely ladies never leave my mind, believe me. Now that July is here, and I have already shared my summer face essentials, it is now time for Body and Hair care products!

I don't know about you but I go nuts for body care and hair care products just as much as makeup products. With Summer here and I am always in the sunshine when I am not stuck in my cubicle at work with no windows (I know yuck!) there are always certain products I heart during this gorgeous beautiful season.

Let's begin...

1. Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream
  • A good moisturizer is key during the warmer months just as it is in the winter months. I tend to stick with the theme of the summer and go with a summer scent to spruce things up. Make sure after your in the sun, you shower and apply a good body cream because your skin will love you forever for that! I enjoy the Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Body Creams because A. they do not have parabens, and B. they are not greasy, and C. they come in fun scents!

2. Bath & Body Works Body Mists
  • Now with the hot weather, comes perspiration times ten! Now ladies this is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all human. But girls please carry with you a body mist to spritz your self as a refresher if you need to. These two come in fun scents! They also come in travel sizes too so you can throw them in your purse!

3. Moisturizing Body Wash: Dove

  • You always need to make sure your skin is moisturized from the very first step of hygiene. My favorite body wash that just gives my skin the best drink of moisture is Dove. It is affordable and you can find it at any grocery store or drug store.

4. Deep Conditioning treatment for Hair: Coconut Oil OR Macadamia Deep Repair Mask

  • Now I know that some of us are on a budget, and the best most cost efficient deep conditioning treatment there is out there is coconut oil. This amazing natural oil is great for the scalp and hair. Make sure you purchase a bottle that says EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL because you want the oil to be less processed as possible. You can find this oil at any local grocery store or natural food store for under $10.

  • For those of you who may not have too much time to use coconut oil. The Macadamia Deep repair mask is one of my favorites to use as a treat on my hair. It is on the more pricey side but it works wonders and you do not need to user this every time you shower. I would say once a week if your hair is healthy. Twice a week if you have destroyed your hair where you have so much breakage and processed cuticles that it desperately needs treatment twice a week.

5. John Freida Root Awakening Shampoo
  • Shampoo is another importance for you hair. My favorite for the summer is the John Freida Root Awakening Shampoo. It has Eucalyptus and Mint that cools the scalp and just re-freshens you whole head. With the hot muggy weather we have here in Toronto Canada this shampoo is definitely a cooler for me. This product can be found at any grocery store or drug store. Very affordable as well.

6. Lush Sea Salt Spray
  • Every girl has the need for beach waves in their hair. My favorite product for the summer to get those natural waves is the Lush Sea Spray. Very affordable, about $12 a bottle. Once you get out of the shower towel dry hair, then spray this product in, and as your hair naturally dries you get a cute wave. To enhance the waves braid your hair and let it dry. You can also use this spray on dry hair. Just love this product in the hot weather.

That is all for today ladies! Hope you enjoyed!
